Carleton Rode Golf Society

About

The aim of the society is simple. To welcome golfers of any ability to get together and build new friendships on both the course and in the Carleton Rode Social Club. The society has grown and we currently have over 40 active golfers who get involved. To be in with a shout of winning the converted trophy, you need to complete at least six of the society rounds during a year with your six best scores counting. We score using the Stapleford system so that no matter your ability, you have a chance to win. On each day we also hold closest to the pin and longest drive competitions.

History

The Carleton Rode Golf Society was founded in 2022 by society President Mark Ward. Having discovered that he could mix his two passions in life of golf and drinking, he set about creating a society that would aim to play for a prestigious annual trophy based upon an individuals performance at golf society days across a calendar year. In the first year, 10 rounds of golf were completed on a variety of Norfolk’s best known courses. This also included a residential trip to the Belfry where the group somehow managed to fit two rounds of golf in around a very hectic drinking schedule! Unsurprisingly, as president, organiser and scorer, Mark  won the Championship in 2022 which led to a society committee being formed to ensure such an event could never happen again!
